As the owner of a small business, a good deal of effort is put forward in promoting the ‘features and benefits’ of our organization and differentiating us from the competition. A large part of that was joining the West Suburban Chamber and, in fact, the deciding factor for joining three years ago was learning that we could promote Midwest Computing Group, Inc. through the chamber website. I’m not sure how many members are aware of that or take advantage of that huge benefit.
The value and convenience, at any time of the day, of being able to upload pictures, change content, and blast ‘Member-to-member’ offers or post job openings, was a key consideration. To this day, when promoting WSCCI to colleagues in my networking groups, I make it a point to mention the value the chamber website adds to a membership. We have seen great returns! I’d be more than happy to tell you about this and the Chamber staff is always ready to help you as well.
A second area that has become very important to me personally is the WSCCI Ambassador Group. These are the representatives who are present at all Chamber functions to assist in promoting, to existing and prospective members, the many benefits of membership in a regional chamber. Ambassadors attend Ribbon Cuttings, Chamber Chats, member-sponsored after-hours events, as well as other events in which the chamber sponsors or participates. They are an enthusiastic group of members who have made a decision to help grow the membership, get involved and have a lot of fun at some of the best events in the area.
We would love more members to join this exciting group! If you are the outgoing type and feel like 2017 is your year to pay it forward, please join the Ambassadors. We meet in person every month, and communicate a lot via email to keep the energy going. This year, we will have two categories of Ambassadors: those who will be involved with planning and coordinating and those who wish to assist at events themselves. This year, our goal is to include a venue in every service community in the Chamber to hold chamber chats or other events for members.
So, are you ready? Get set … Mark your calendar! The first Chamber Chat of 2017 will be held on March 14, from 5 to 7 pm.
Feel free to email me at email@example.com or the chamber staff at firstname.lastname@example.org if you want to learn more about becoming part of a group of movers and shakers who want to make a difference.
