Get Ready for the Trendiest Holiday Party EverThe West Suburban Chamber is trendy! I suspected this all along. According to an article in The Balance Small Business by Rob Hard last week, "The best time to hold a holiday party is probably during the lunch hour.” The article cites historical holiday party data from Battalia Winston (a recruiting firm) which shows a growing trend in this direction. Party. Trend. WSCCI. Yep, definitely trendsetters!
On Thursday, December 5 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, we’re hosting A Mind-Blowing Holiday Party at Capri Banquets and we’ve been talking about our entertainer, Mentalist Jonathan Pritchard a lot. The reason you want to be in this audience is because Jonathan knows business people; he literally wrote the book “Think Like a Mind Reader” which discusses marketing, negotiating and motivational psychology. He’s been an MC, keynote speaker and trainer. His 30 minutes on the WSCCI stage will be a little bit fun, a little bit educational and a lotta bit useful. Don’t waste time planning your own party, this IS your party. Bring your staff, your clients, your customers and hang out with fellow members. I recently asked Jonathan a few questions, so you could get to know him a little better—since he will already know what’s on your mind!
WSCCI: Do you have a favorite event/location and what happened that made it stand out for you?
JP: I performed for our troops stationed in South Korea. I did 12 shows in two weeks, and got to travel all over the country visiting with our service members. It was a gorgeous trip, but mostly I remember how appreciative everyone was. That was an incredible opportunity.
WSCCI: Have you ever been truly surprised during a performance/training/event and how did you handle it?
JP: Sure have! Anything and everything that could possibly go wrong has gone wrong; that’s what I love about my job! The spontaneous nature of working with volunteers from the audience means that every show is different, and I have to be prepared for anything. Most of the time, we can all just laugh and have a good time when something goes sideways. Everyone understands we’re there to have fun!
WSCCI: Best piece of business advice you've ever received?
JP: Be careful what you get good at; you’ll wind up doing it. My dad told me that in high school, and it’s stuck with me ever since.
Here’s what else you can look forward to on December 5, at the Chamber’s Mind-Blowing Party:
