A dedicated, reliable and future workforce
When you think of workforce development – what comes to mind? Do you think of securing top talent? An aging workforce? Attracting a younger generation? Or perhaps you have concerns about what plans are in place at your business, should something suddenly happen to a key employee. Or worse…you? How will your business continue to thrive? Expand? Become a model for other businesses?
Recently, the WSCCI was able to tour and learn how one company in our region is addressing these and many other issues through a partnership with LADSE (La Grange Area Department of Special Education) and their collaboration with Via Quest Employment Collaborative. Cintas (the leading industry in supplying corporate identity uniform programs, providing entrance and logo mats, restroom supplies, promotional products, first aid, safety, fire protection products and services, and industrial carpet and tile cleaning) has been working with individuals with developmental disabilities through many of our members' programs in order to create a dedicated, reliable and future workforce.
The job responsibilities and opportunities available through Cintas have been extraordinary and could easily serve as a model of how small business and large business alike could tap into this critical market. The WSCCI will continue to develop its relationship with Cintas, LADSE and other members addressing this particular issue so that we may, together, share best practices for other small businesses in our region – offering just one more way to ensure a viable economic future.
