Mission:
To provide a mechanism through which schools and local businesses can foster new learning experiences; to heighten students' awareness of opportunities in local businesses and organizations; and to promote business participation in the education of future employees and consumers.
Goals:
To aid in the development of business/education partnerships among all of the schools/teachers and businesses within the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce & Industry region who are committed to this mission.
Objectives:
- Promote Business/Education Partnerships as a means of creating interaction among business and school partners for the benefit of the students, each partner, and the community.
- Provide opportunities for the members of the business community and schools/teachers to develop partnerships.
- Serve as a liaison between the business community and the public and private school districts within the WSCCI region.
- Provide recognition of partnerships and partnership activities.
The West Suburban Chamber of Commerce & Industry Business/Education Partnership Program began during the 1994-95 school year with eight businesses and schools in their first partnerships. It has grown to include a variety of programs, including Career Education fairs, classroom speakers, banking and reading programs, class trips, and much more. Many of the local schools have participated in successful programs to the benefit of their students.
